This is the basic grading rubric for online responses. Each response will be graded on a scale of 1-20 based off the criteria below.

20-18- The response has several well-developed paragraphs and gives a clear detailed answer to the question. No spelling or grammar errors are present. The response is original, uses text connections and SPECIFIC (CONCRETE) EXAMPLES. There is specific reference to the author's tone and purpose. There is a clear attempt to answer the question and stays focused throughout the piece.

17-16- The response is somewhat detailed, but still uses SPECIFIC (CONCRETE) EXAMPLES. This may stray off topic from time to time or have an unclear message due to wordiness or weak examples. This may include a lot of summary and not a lot of analysis.

15-14- The response merely repeats what someone else has already said and has very little originality. This may not answer the question or may be extremely vague. Examples may be used, but don't seem to help answering the question. The majority of this piece may be a summary of the story.

13-12- The response is unoriginal and merely repeats what someone has already said. Spelling and grammar errors may be present and jumps from topic to topic without any real focus.

11 or below Little or no effort shown.
